Music:- Sick and exhausted but still willing to fight |
|||||
Mr Clarke worked hard, every day, but never seemed to get anywhere, all of his hard earned wages were immediately taken to pay the bills, as the stress levels grew and took their toll on his health Mr Clarke wondered why he continued on, why not break the cycle? But every way out that he could find ended up being blocked in some way or another so he continued to toil, but the stress affected his moods and he was irritable and often snapped at his wife for no reason until he pushed her too far away and couldn't pull her back, he eventually had a nervous breakdown, his bills went unpaid and he lost everything. After a lifetime of working hard it was all taken from him in a matter of months. |

Music:- Seriously, why bother? |

| Professor Johnson longed to see his daughter happy again, after the death of his wife in one of his less well thought out experiments she had cried endlessly. One night after completing work on his new telescope he found a planet that sustained life very similar to Earth. He watched the alien race go about their lives for some time, paying particular attention to one of the females, soon enough he had fallen in love and decided that a new mother for his daughter would be the answer to his prayers. He set about building a rocket ship so that he could go and woo his alien bride. Unfortunately, in typical Professor Johnson fashion he forgot that the images he was seeing through his telescope left the alien planet billions of years ago and that by traveling through space, although he would not age in his cryogenic sleep tank, everybody on Earth including his daughter would. Upon landing on the alien world he found that the planet had died a long time ago, torn apart by war. A sudden fear for his daughter took hold and he set off on the long journey back to Earth. His daughter was of course long dead and gone, forced to live out the rest of her life with no parents, she bore no children of her own which was a small mercy as her descendents would have faced the the Earth's horrific end as the sun died. Professor Johnson arrived just in time to bear witness. |

Lyrics:
the universe is vast when we look at the stars we look at the past and the universe is so big that your life may as well not exist everything you've done everything you've worked for all means nothing everything you worry about everything you love all means nothing everything ends your family and friends will be nothing everything ends your pets and your belongings will be nothing ashes to ashes dust to dust in a billion years the sun goes supernova the earth burns into dust no-one will be there to care no-one will remember you everything you say and do means nothing |

Music:- And then I was truly alone |

| Mr and Mrs Flagstaff had been married for 57 years, they had recently been on holiday to Paris, the same destination that they had been on honeymoon so many years ago. They were so happy on that trip that it seemed particularly cruel for Mrs Flagstaff to be taken ill and then taken from Earth a few short weeks after their return. Mr Flagstaff would join his wife 3 months later, dead from a broken heart, his last days were spent reliving the trip to Paris over and over. |

| Mr and Mrs Peterson had been struggling to make ends meet so Mr Peterson set sail in his fishing boat for a new job on a neighbouring island, he would be away from his beloved for six months but hoped to return with enough money for them to finally buy their own house. Unfortunately fate had other plans and a storm, the likes of which hadn't been seen in over 20 years, battered Mr Peterson's boat until Mr Peterson was claimed by the sea, never to be seen again. Mrs Peterson went out to the clifftop every day and stood for hours, scanning the horizon for her husbands return, but he never came, eventually she couldn't take it anymore and she collapsed, over the cliff she fell into the arms of her love. |

Lyrics:
he's gone to sea she stands on the beach and waves but only the ocean waves in response she prays for his return when he's proved himself and made his fortune but inside she fears the worst she's standing on the edge of the cliff she looks up at the stars and makes a wish but there's a storm on the horizon and the waves grow and the winds blow he's gone to sea he's gone to sea and he's never been so wet and cold he fights hard against the tide he fights harder not to cry and he's never felt so alone and he wishes that he stayed at home he looks up to the stars to navigate but he's never going to make it home the stars won't guide him home a wish won't bring him home her love won't guide him home and the waves grow and the winds blow he'll die on the sea alone |

Steve Williams and The Encroaching Blackness Music:- Black, blue and grey, the colours of my sadness |
|||||
| Steve was lonely, he wandered the streets most nights, nobody said hello as he passed, he didn't think anybody even saw him. He'd look through the windows of the buildings he passed, he didn't know why, other peoples lives just made him feel more alone and miserable, sometimes he found himself wishing bad things would happen to them so they would be as miserable as him, one day they did but it just made him feel worse.

Mr Roberts spent his entire life realising one dream, to build the most majestic clock tower the world had ever seen, he envisioned great crowds of tourists flocking to gaze upon its majesty and his name to be entered in the history books as one of the worlds most revered men. Alas, he spent so much of his time building the tower and awaiting the crowds that he didn't meet any women to be his bride and thus didn't father any children to inherit the tower once he died, and die he did, alone and miserable as nobody came to see the tower, Mr Roberts was full of regret on his last day on Earth and wished he could start again with a different dream. The tower was demolished shortly after his death to make way for a new branch of a popular supermarket chain. |
